DO YOU HAVE BINGE-EATING DISORDER: MOOD PROBLEMS & PREOCCUPATION WITH FOOD
MOOD PROBLEMS
Binge-eating disorder is associated with higher rates of major depression throughout your lifetime. Binge eating becomes worse during these periods of depressed mood. Even without major depression, binges are often triggered by anger, sadness, or anxiety. Other psychological problems associated with binge eating include panic attacks, emotional impulsivity, and the excessive use of alcohol.
PREOCCUPATION WITH FOOD
Overweight binge eaters think about food and worry about overeating to a much greater extent than overweight nonbinge eaters. Dieting, food, and fears about losing control over impulses to eat are a constant problem. One of the most gratifying results of successful treatment is that you will be free from this obsession.
